A2A Challenge: Distributed Water Quality Monitoring
Archived
Establishing efficient and cost effective mechanisms of testing drinking water quality is widely regarded as a major public health priority across the globe. The Italian multi-utility company A2A Ciclo Idrico is seeking partners to develop a compact multi-parameter sensor which enables the continuous measurement of drinking water quality in the Municipality of Brescia in Italy.
Water quality is currently tested at designated collection points, which can fail to provide an accurate representation of the true water quality reaching end consumers. Existing systems of in-situ water testing require bulky monitoring infrastructure which is difficult to install. The solution should thus carry nil to minimal environmental/urban impact and be able to be integrated within the existing municipal water distribution network.
